Fred Jones                                                            Award of Merit

The Award of Merit was established to recognize individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to benefit Logan Elm Athletics. Mr. Fred Jones is the recipient for 2009. Fred graduated from Zane Trace High School in 1979 where he participated in Cross Country, Basketball and Baseball and from Miami University in 1983 with a degree in Accounting.

Fred served as President of the Logan Elm Booster Club for 6 years. He would like to thank the officers during his time: Mary Beth Reichelderfer, Lynne Svetek and Ann Blake. Tony Crist who called bingo regularly for several years and Dan Bise, former Athletic Director and Rod Smith for all their time and support. He would like to send special thanks to the coaches, parents, athletes and friends who worked so hard at bingo, the concession stands, Pumpkin Show and other fundraising projects. Fred would also add special thanks to his wife, Jodie, who was ALWAYS understanding and helpful with the Booster Club. Without her help and patience it would not have been possible. Because of this TEAM effort, close to one million dollars have been raised the past six years for the athletes of Logan Elm.

All of that hard work and commitment resulted in: New Bleachers in Spangler Memorial Gym, Girls Softball Complex, Funding the Athletics for the 2005-2006 year in excess of $100,000.00, and implementation of six $500.00 college scholarships to Logan Elm athletes.
