| LARRY WHALEY AWARD OF MERIT |
| 2005 AWARD OF MERIT The Award of Merit was established to recognize individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to benefit Logan Elm Athletics. Mr. Larry Whaley is the recipient for 2005. Larry has retired from DuPont with 29 years of service. He is currently working as Scheduler for Pickaway Area Rural Transit. Larry is a member of the Circleville First Church of the Nazarene and his activities include playing golf, working puzzles and enjoying time with his wife and daughter. Larry graduated from Westfall High School in 1966. His wife Connie graduated from Logan Elm in 1964 and his daughter Angela graduated from Logan Elm in 1992. Larry served three years in the United States Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam, receiving the Army Commendation Medal. His association with Logan Elm High School activities began in the 1989-90 school year as Vice President of the Logan Elm Music Boosters. Larry served as Booster Vice President for three years. His first involvement with the Logan Elm Athletic Department began as public address announcer for the football games. He did that for two years. In the 1991-92 school year, He was asked if he would be interested in becoming the announcer during basketball games. Little did he know that after 14 years, he would still be the “Voice of the Braves” and hopefully he will continue to be for many more years! The past seven seasons, Larry has served as statistician for the football team. His services include all of the following: keeping stats during the game, informing the coach of first half stats during half time, totaling end of game stats and reporting them to the coach and the media, compiling and reporting accurate season totals. Larry basically takes care of all the number crunching for the football team. This is an invaluable service to the coaches. It is one thing they don’t have to worry about and it allows them to devote more of their time to the players! The Logan Elm Athletic Department is very pleased to take this opportunity to honor Mr. Larry Whaley with this Award of Merit. Please take a moment after the ceremony to congratulate him for a job extremely WELL DONE! |
